Flora Woodscolt Cross was born January 11, 1993 in Paris, France. Her father, Joe Cross, is a journalist, and from a young age Flora along with her older brother (actor Harley Cross), moved internationally for his career. From Paris to Panama, Jerusalem, Israel to Buenos Aires, Argentina, Flora had quite the childhood adventures. However, it is not an easy lifestyle, and when Flora was six, her mother left to live in one place for a while - Alaska. Although Flora didn't grow up with her mother, they have recently started to keep in contact. Flora kept to her roots though, becoming trilingual in French, English, and Spanish.

From around five, Flora new she would become an actress like her siblings - "it's a family tradition". But Flora has a true passion for acting, derived not only by her family, but by her idols such as Charlie chaplin and Bette Davis. Unusual for a young girl, she was entranced by older, classic films rather than Disney cartoons which is usually standard. Some titles including French classics 'All about Eve', 'The 400 Blows' and 'Jules and Jim'. Charlie Chaplin is Flora's proclaimed "hero" Flora feels he watches over her, and has a collection of his stuff in her room.

After acting in school productions, Flora received a script at age nine, whilst in Buenos Aires. This was for the part of Eliza Neuman, the lead in Newline's Bee Season. Eliza is a Jewish girl who uses the study of Kaballah to help her win a spelling bee. With co-stars such as Richard Gere and Juliette Binoche, for a girl who had never been in a film before this was a magnificant feat. In fact, one of the first candidates up for the role was top child actress Dakota Fanning. Due to a quirky audition tape and cunning resemblance to Juliette Binoche, Flora got the part. "We cast her to some degree because there was a beautiful naturalism about her that just comes from her being her" (Steve Siegel, co-director).

Flora's love of film acting grew more and more on set as she was able to interact with top actors and learn from the best. When it was time for Flora to get schooling (the law requires at least six hours a day), Flora practically had to be dragged off-set! With Bee Season's 2005 release, Flora was surprised to see her head on movie posters and was introduced to the Hollywood world of premieres and film festivals.

One of the reasons Flora likes acting so much is becoming different characters than herself. In 2006 Flora had the oppurtunity to prove that she was not a type-cast girl, and filmed Noah Baumbach's Margot at the Wedding with Nicole Kidman and Jack Black. Here, she plays an entirely different character than in Bee Season, the outgoing yet maternal Ingrid.

By 2007, Flora has become a highly acclaimed child actress. She has moved to the states with her father, reciding in both New York and most recently Los Angeles, where she is starting her first year of high school. Along with acting, Flora has taken up more hobbies, including horse back riding, song-writing, and soccer.
